I’ve been seeing these adorable mini side tables everywhere. While I love the look of so many of them, I wasn’t quite sure what I’d do with them. They didn’t seem big enough for anything. Then, I learned that they’re called “cocktail tables” or drink tables, and it all came together. How many places do we sit down with a drink in our hand, only to have nowhere to put it down? I can think of at least two places in my house where I do this on the reg. That’s why these cute and functional tables are perfect. A drink table is just big enough for a coaster and a drink. And, since most of these have gorgeous lines and details, they look cool without anything else. I’m all about low effort, big style.
Today I’m sharing a round-up of chic and useful, the perfect spot for a drink when you’ve sat down after a long day. Now, the only thing I have to do is decide which one (or two) I want.
12 Chic Cocktail Tables:
1. Pottery Barn Round Metal Drink Table – Also available in black, but I love this burnished gold. I’ve been very happy with the quality of all the things I’ve bought from PB and their customer service is amazing. I love the silhouette of this piece and how chic it looks tucked next to a chair.
2. West Elm Mid-Century Drink Table – I love West Elm. This table will add so much in just a small package. With three colorways, I’m partial to this warm wood, marble topped, brass bass design.
3. Anthropologie Swirling Marble End Table – Available in short and tall, the tall will give you that cocktail table vibe. Obsessed with the marble base and top on this one. The perfect table next to a settee or chaise lounge – like these ones.
4. Linen Home Decor Adjustable Drink Table – Want to customize the height of the cocktail table based on where it’s at? Here you go! Just look at the lines on this beautiful piece, too! So good! How perfect is this next to a bath tub? Brilliant!
5. Kate & Laurel Walnut Brown Adjustable Drink Table – Love the warm wood top on this one. The adjustable base looks like one of those library task lamps. The way it cleverly makes the knob look like part of the design is 10/10. I love how it looks with the olive green and moody colors. Would look so great next to one of these sofas.
6. Threshold Londonberry Turned Metal Accent Table Black – $50 and looks just as nice as others on this list that are 3x the price. Love the turned leg on this one. So sleek.
7. Threshold Marble Drink Table – Another Threshold winner from Target! The triangular marble base is so unexpected and different. I love it!
8. Kate & Laurel Sanzo Drink Table – Okay, the scalloped marble top on this is SO GOOD! This would look so great in a space where you want that visual detail, but don’t want a big side table in the way. Perfect.
9. JONATHAN Y Contemporary Minimalist Metal – Love the art deco star pattern on the top and base of this paired with the gold leg. Comes in two other colorways, too.
10. Clear Acrylic End Table – An acrylic table gives you the functionality without the visual break in the space. They’re also perfect for rooms with a coastal or airy style. I love acrylic. We bought an acrylic ceiling fan years ago and still love it.
11. Everly Quinn Glass Top Brass Drink Table – Love the design on this one. The small glass top will be easy to maintain and clean. Comes in silver, bronze, and black as well. Such a great price, too!
12. Kaethe Iron Top End Table – I’ve seen different versions of this hammered metal with the tripod legs and I love the added detail in the middle of this. So good. Very modern antique.

Why not use a full side table?
I’ve asked myself this question before, but after buying a side table for a space where I should’ve gotten a cocktail table, I now know why. A side table is larger and a bit more of a visual break in the room. In the case of the side table I bought, it looks too big next to the chair and I’ve always wondered why the balance isn’t right. Plus, a side table needs staging or it looks empty. I try to stage this table, but because of where it’s at in the room, it ends up being a catch-all for random toys, books, and other things, so it always looks messy.
By swapping that table out for a cocktail table, I’ll get that visual look I’m after, plus a place to put a drink or a candle, and it won’t end up being the drop off place for all the things. That’s the benefit of a drink table. Not to mention, they look great in spaces that are smaller and can be tucked pretty much anywhere. I’ve even seen some people using these as gorgeous plant stands in corners! Sky is the limit with these beautiful cocktail tables, friends. Get creative!
