gray blending

I am loving how many women I’m seeing embracing the grays, either through growing it out and rocking it or using gray blending techniques to incorporate into the color they want. There are so many beautiful examples out there of how women are embracing their grays. My previous posts on gray blending have been a big hit and I’m back today with even more gorgeous gray blending inspo to inspire you to find your own happy place between embracing the grays and getting the color you want.

All of the credit goes to these incredible stylists and their clients. A note: because this post is very image heavy, some images may take a second to load. Trust me, the images are there. This one blows my mind. She says she sees her client once a year for this blend. Because her base is natural with gray mixed in, and she doesn’t have colored hair to start with, they are able to achieve this icy look. I’ve been dying my hair for years, so unfortunately, I don’t think my hair could withstand this lift, but it honestly makes me want to grow my hair out, grays and all, so I can try this out.

3. Gray Blending on Dark Hair by @locksbylauryn:

This is an incredible result, especially when the stylist shares that this was accomplished with old highlights and faded base color. Amazing. She has so many beautiful ideas as a grey blending and blonding specialist. Check out her feed!

4. Seamless Gray Blending by @glorified_beauty:

Absolutely love this finished result. I really can’t tell that there are natural grays here at all. The blending is done so well. To see what she started with, click to head to the post and scroll through the pictures to see the before. Amazing end result. This is exactly what I would love to do with my hair someday.

This shows how gorgeous gray blending can be with lighter hair. She generously shares about the process and her formula on the page, so definitely check it out for a lot more info.

6. Gray Blending With Highlights by @skylacolors:

What’s incredible about this one is the dimension in the color. It shimmers in the light, sometimes looking blonde and sometimes having a more gray color. There’s no way to know what’s natural and what’s not here, because they are blended expertly. Truly beautiful.

7. Ash Toned Babylights for Gray Blending by @michellezstyles:

I love a good ash toned highlight. It is a fantastic way to blend the gray. But, it does require a lot of color lifting, particularly on dark hair like mine. Make sure your stylist knows what’s already on your hair and take care of your hair before and after with heat protectant, hair masks, and TLC.

8. Dramatic Gray Highlights by @miradaz53:

I’m not sure about you, but my grays are coming in in big chunks. This is what I imagine mine would look like if I great them in, although I know the end result would not be nearly as pretty as this.

9. Gray Blending Transformation by @deborahlynnhairartistry:

Obsessed with this side-by-side gray blending transformation! What incredible work here! In the first picture, you can see older color that is growing out with a lot of gray in the natural color. Still, even with this old color, she was able to achieve this shimmering blend full of dimension.

10. Gray Coverage Before & After by @kenraprofessional:

Absolutely love to see a before and after. This image also clearly shows what was used to achieve this look. Kenra shares in the caption that they teach this method on their YouTube. Check it out!

11. Gray Blending with Highlights by @live_love_dohair:

I’ll be honest, I couldn’t even see the gray here. She talks about the process of doing gray blending vs. gray coverage in the caption, as well as gives a lot of great tips that I think are very helpful, even for me, as a client. Knowing the best options for my hair and setting realistic expectations always helps with how I feel about the end result.

 12. Gray Blending on Dark Hair by @hannahjeanbeauty:

The gray highlights on dark hair has such great contrast. She gives a lot of great tips in the caption for gray blending. I get stuck thinking that if I can just get back to my natural color, it’ll be easier, but I can’t stand the growout phase. I love fresh looking hair color. So, this method is exactly what I would do if I wanted to fully embrace the grays.

You have got to scroll through the pics to see the before and after. AMAZING! The transformation here is incredible. I think so many women lighten to blend the grays and then decide they don’t want to keep doing that or their hair can’t hold up to all the bleach. This is exactly what happened to me. The bleach began destroying my hair in a way that it just didn’t do when I was younger. I went darker to heal my hair and then down the road, when my grays are more evenly distributed, I want to blend them like this.

14. Incredible Gray Blending by @happyfit_elizabetheubanks:

Wow. Just wow. My jaw dropped on this one. I’m so curious how she achieved this look and what she used. Her page has so many beautiful hair ideas, too.

15. Gray Blending for Low Maintenance Color by @gwyneve.hair:

Love seeing low transformation hair ideas, because I have less time and less money for my hair than ever before (thanks kids!). Seriously, though, I love the idea of a soft growout, beautiful shimmering color, and gray blending – just like this.

16. Gray Blending over Old Color by @embray.hair:

Everything about this is amazing. The color transformation, the cut, the style – they nailed it.  You’ve gotta scroll to the before and see the condition of the color when they started. Beautiful.

17. Gray Blending with Dimension by @gabrielabrito:

Absolutely love this gray blending with such shimmering dimension from this talented colorist. I’d love to see what she started with here, because this is seamless. Something I hear other women my age say is they’re nervous to embrace the grays. It is definitely an adjustment – changing/aging always is – but this shows that there is nothing to fear about gray blending.

18. Gray Blending with Highlights by @hairbynikkisherd:

Stunning! Click to see the before. The end result is so much better. It looks like they were doing gray coverage before and then that color changes and lightens over time, but this gray blending looks amazing and the grow out will be easier.

19. Gray Blending Highlights & Lowlights by @miabellabeautysalon:

Love the use of highlights and lowlights here to create this dimensional gray blending look. One thing my colorist has mentioned is using lowlights to break up my chunks of gray as they grow out to make it look highlighted in gray, without damaging my hair with bleach. There are so many great things you can do to make your hair look its best.

20. Jaw Dropping Gray Blending Transformation by @bhookshair:

You really have to see this one to believe it. Seriously, click on the post and look at the before and after. Yup. I told you.

21. Chic Gray Blending by @hairbydomd:

It can be scary to change what you’ve done for a long time. I know it is for me, as well, but this is a great example of how trusting your stylist and embracing your hair is only going to yield incredible results.

22. Gray Blending Over Multiple Sessions by @aaashleee:

Another winner by Ashlee. This one has a very helpful caption where she sets realistic expectations for how to achieve this multi-session result. I know for me and where my hair is at, I could not get this in one session, or probably even two sessions. This would be a process. And I would have to decide if growing it out naturally or doing a multiple service to get this result would be best. For more information on how this was achieved, read the full post. Find it here.

23. Gray Blending by @hairbymegbrirob:

Meg Pearl nailed it with this gray blending look. I honestly wouldn’t know this is gray coverage. I would have thought they just wanted this color, and I think that’s the result we are all after.

24. Transitional Gray Blending by @kristinamariahair:

I love what Krystina writes in her caption, about how sometimes we’re not ready to fully embrace our natural color and it’s about transitioning, while keeping a color we feel comfortable with. This is where I’m at right now, so I totally got this. The result here is beautiful.

25. Balayage Gray Blending by @shalynslayedmyhair:

I love a post that shows what embracing greys can really be. This is absolutely I would want, even without having any natural gray coming in. Gorgeous. Shalyn absolutely slayed this hair.
