It seems like the first place where weight gain or loss is noticed is right in your face. Even if it’s just temporary water weight from eating too many chips and salsa for dinner last night – your face is going to show it by looking like a bobblehead for a few days.

So, what do you do if you’d like to see a slimmer, more defined, face today and not when you drop that quarantine fifteen? Two words: ICE ROLLER.

Maybe you’ve seen Instagram influencers touting the benefits of ice rollers and you’ve been skeptical, especially since last week they were all selling the same $40 water bottle and using phrases like, “Can’t live without it” and “Best water bottle on the planet”. I get it, it’s hard to know who you can really trust and what products really move the needle.

That’s why I like to quietly try trendy things and only report what really works. I consider it my gift to humanity.

You’re welcome.

Why Ice Rollers?

The thing about ice rollers that I was particularly interested in is how similar they are to face rollers made from jade, rose quartz and other stones. I’m a big fan of lymphatic massage, especially for the face, and cold therapy for inflammation is also a big win – so shouldn’t an ice roller combine the best of both worlds? I had to find out.

After all, a post I wrote on how to use a rose quartz face roller has been going viral on Pinterest for awhile. There are a lot of benefits to using a face roller and I even included a handy picture to guide readers on how to roll that face.

And, guess what, I also shared that I kept mine in a beauty fridge, because the cold added extra de-puffing benefits.

So, not long after jade rollers had their moment in the limelight, ice rollers started popping up on Amazon and quietly moved their way through the beauty community. Those $8 ice rollers in jarring colors were not the prettiest item on bathroom counters, but people weren’t willing to part with them – because, guess what, they were like a jade roller on steroids! The freezing cold roller packs all the benefits of lymphatic drainage and increased circulation and then tops it off with all the major benefits of cold therapy!

When I knew I had to try it for myself, I hunted down this adorable pink and rose gold roller, for less than $10, stuck it in the freezer and got ready to freeze my face!

Benefits of Ice Rollers:

To sum it up, here’s a quick list of all the benefits of using an ice roller for just a couple of minutes each day:

  • Depuffs face (or wherever you decide to use it)
  • Relaxes muscles and reduces muscle tension
  • Promotes more circulation – for plumper, healthier looking skin!
  • Reduces the appearance of wrinkles (thanks circulation!)
  • Helps skin absorb serums
  • Brightens and smooths skin (again – thanks circulation!)
  • Reduces eye puffiness and dark circles (and it feels sooo good!)

And, when you use the ice roller in conjunction with a powerful skin serum, you’ll see more hydration and skin improvement than before, because the ice will help your skin soak in the active ingredients more deeply.

How To Use an Ice Roller:

If you’re sold on snapping up an ice roller and freezing your skin (in the best possible way), let’s talk turkey: what exactly do you do with the thing once it’s super cold and ready to go?

Well, I’m going to tell you – with this handy dandy pictorial. Who’s ready to freeze that face?

Basically, to sum it up, you’re going to start in the middle of your face and roll out and up in the way you want your skin to go. And, you can even leave that nice cold roller on areas you want to give some extra de-puffing, such as on your closed eyelids for a few seconds and under your eyes. I also really like to leave mine on my lymph nodes on my neck, since mine swell up from autoimmune issues, and I’ve even rolled it up and down my neck and shoulders when I’m tense from working out! When resting it on a spot, you can just gauge how long based on what is comfortable for you, whether that is 5 seconds or 20.

Seriously, it’s almost totally foolproof, which is precisely how I like my beauty regiment to be. I mean, let’s keep it easy, right?

More Ways To Use an Ice Roller:

1. Use Like an Ice Pack:

So, you’ve probably used ice packs before and sometimes you don’t need some giant ice pack for a smaller area. Well, time to bust out that ice roller, baby. Just gently roll it around an area that is inflamed to help your body heal.

2. Use With Serums:

After you wash your face and before you apply creams, you might be applying products like skin serums. The ice and cold will really help your skin soak in any serums or skin care products you put on after it, so take this opportunity to get the most out of that skincare!

3. Use For Headaches:

If you’ve read my two posts on how to get rid of headaches and 8 natural remedies for headaches, you know BOTH of them suggest ice packs on the base of the head/top of the neck.

Well, you can also use your ice roller on those areas, as well as roll it around your forehead and hold it on your temples for awhile, to get a similar effect! I did this the other day and it felt so good.

******

I absolutely love using my ice roller. You can grab the really bright, not so cute, ones on Amazon, too – but why when you can order this cuter one?

I use it almost every day. I leave it in my freezer and use it in the morning and sometimes at night too when my sinuses or eyes are especially inflamed. I love how versatile it is and how easy it is to use. It honestly provides so much relief and I am HERE. FOR. IT.

Would you ever try an ice roller? What do you think?
