10 Best Summer Skin Care Products for Glowing, Clear Skin

summer skin care

Summer is here and the temps are spiking. The heat can really do a number on our skin, from drying it out to breakouts and more. I know how it feels to struggle to find skin care that works in the summer, especially when things like sweating, sunscreen, and sweatproof makeup can wreak havoc on our skin. Luckily, I have found a great collection of super effective, soothing skin care faves that are super affordable and work! These will get you through summer with healthy, glowing skin by reducing or eliminating breakouts, gently exfoliating, and moisturizing skin zapped by the heat.

Taking care of our skin in the summer can sometimes mean counteracting the products we start to use. I know I reach for things like primers and makeup setting sprays more in the summer than usual, but every single time I use them, my skin struggles. So, I am vigilant about taking care of my skin morning and night with products that will exfoliate gently, hydrate, and keep breakouts at bay. Also, as a woman in her 40s, I can definitely tell when something is working or not. You can bet that if I’m recommending something, it works. These are my current summer skin care products.

10 Best Summer Skincare for Glowing, Healthy Skin:

  1. Vegan Collagen Undereye Roller – This light undereye serum feels amazing. The metal rollerball stays cold and feels like a massage around the eyes. Hyaluronic acid, peptides, and collagen plump up skin, reduce fine lines and dark circles, and feel amazing. It’s an affordable K-Beauty fave of mine.
  2. GWT Beauty Sponges – I recently needed new beauty sponges and was going to buy them at a local store. I was shocked at the price. More than double the price of these for less sponges. These feel so similar to higher end brands and come in a larger set for less. Plus, using these keeps me from using my fingers to apply makeup, which in the summer is ideal to reduce breakouts.
  3. e.l.f. Skin Blemish Breakthrough Serum – I’ve been using this at night for awhile and when I stop, the blemishes/breakouts start coming back. But, this is more than a blemish fighter, it also has those good acids that gently exfoliate skin and keep it looking fresh and youthful. This is something I keep repurchasing, because it works. It keeps my breakouts at bay and then I layer a night cream or sleeping mask on top of it at night.
  4. Fraiche Organic Castor Oil for Brows/Lashes – I’ve recently experienced some hair loss in my brows and lashes. My eyelashes have always been short, but they’ve been getting more sparse. I didn’t want to use a serum with chemicals so close to my eyes, especially since I have Sjogren’s, which causes dry/irritated eyes. So, I got this instead and while the results are not as fast, I am seeing new growth in both my eyebrows and my eyelashes, and I know castor oil is so good for skin and safe for my body.
  5. Medicube Zero Pore Pad – These things are legit! Definitely live up to the hype. I see bigger pores around my nose in the summer, when it’s hot, but these take care of business. It’s a two sided pad where you use the bumpier side first. Rub it all around, and then flip it over and use the smoother side all over. Made with 4.5% AHA Lactic Acid & 0.45% BHA Salicylic Acid, they’ll also help with exfoliation and breakouts.
  6. Medicube Collagen Overnight Peel Mask – Have you seen those cool peel off masks on social media? This is one of them! It’s so good, I’ve given it as a gift a couple of times and everyone loves it. It’s such a neat thing to put it on at night, sleep in it, an then wake up and peel it off in one piece. Leaves your skin insanely soft and hydrated, while not getting tight and itchy.
  7. Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask – Another product I keep repurchasing, because it’s so good! This sleep mask feels amazing on my skin, but is lightweight enough where it doesn’t cause breakouts. I have to be really careful with night creams, and this one works for my skin. Plus, its packed with 3x the Vitamin C, which helps with brightening, even skin tone, and smoothness, as well as retinol, which reduces fine lines and smooths skin. Niacinamide shrinks pores and helps with uneven skin tone, and peptides rejuvenate skin. What does all that mean in reality? Your skin will be glowing! I have received more compliments on my skin since using this than any other product. As a woman in her 40s, that’s high praise to me.
  8. CurrentBody LED Red Light Face Mask – And, we can’t forget my favorite face mask. I try to use this every few days, but sometimes it’s just on Sundays. Still, I think this is one of the best things I do for my skin. It really helps with healthy, youthful skin. It also reduces breakouts, helps with fine lines, and a lot more. It’s pricey, but I’ve used mine for years. And, there are more options out there, some of them well under $100 with great reviews. Check out this post here where I share the top red light face masks, including more affordable options.
  9. Cetaphil Spf 50 Lotion – I love this affordable face lotion with super high SPF! Cetaphil is very gentle on my sensitive skin and it wears well alone or under makeup. Great price point, too!
  10. Tower28 Sunnydays Tinted Sunscreen/Light Foundation– This packs more tint than a lotion based tinted moisturizer, but not as much as one like Laura Mercier (which is closer to a foundation). Frankly, it’s perfect for light coverage that will smooth and even skin tone without covering everything. Unless I have a lot of inflammation or breakouts, I’m a big fan of letting my skin breathe. It also looks great without any powder on top. It gives skin a beautiful natural glow without being shiny. Perfect for quick summer makeup.
