Every year, I decorate the kitchen for my kids’ birthdays. I come up with different themes based on what they’re interested in. It’s easy when they’re young, because they’re usually into something very specific – a character, toy, or game. But, as they get older, finding themes can be a bit more of a challenge, so I decided to create a birthday scene with their favorite food. When I found these cheeseburger and fries shaped balloons, I immediately thought of a plan, and the rest of the table came together pretty quickly. It was a big hit, and the fries balloons have been carried all around the house like dolls, lol. #Adorable
Now I just need to come up with another idea for next year….
Cheeseburger & Fries Birthday:

I love this cheeseburger truck backdrop. It has a nice weight to it, compared to other backdrops I’ve used. It doesn’t come with grommet holes though. In fact, there are no holes at all, so I’m not sure how they were thinking it would be put up. I made little cuts with scissors and threaded string through it, which worked fine. It needed a third anchor through the middle to keep it from flopping. Then, I overlayed this adorable Happy Birthday cheeseburger and fries banner set on top of it. This banner came prestrung and ready to hang – yay! So many of the banners I’ve bought over the years are not ready to hang.

All of the party stores near us have now closed, so I wasn’t able to get the balloons inflated with helium. I used my plug-in air pump and put the balloons out on the table and on the floor around the table. I actually really like how festive it all looked and didn’t miss the helium as much as I thought I would. Plus, it has made it really easy for them to play with the balloons, which is really the whole point.

I loved all the food related wrapping paper I found. The cheeseburger is so cute and came with plenty of red and white tissue paper. The paper was enough to fill the burger bag and the other bag with food on it! Also, love this pizza wrapping paper!

I usually get some kind of matching plates and napkins – it was a bit tough with this theme, but I ended up finding these festive cheeseburger shaped plates! So cute!

And, I wanted something fun for the kids to do together and saw this pizza pinata! I filled it with his favorite candies, so I know he’ll love it when it cracks open. We never outgrow fun games, especially when they’re filled with our faves, right?
Overall, it’s about making their birthday mornings special and unique to them. I’ve done this for their whole lives. Now that they’re getting older, I’m already finding myself nostalgic about it. What will I do when they don’t live here anymore? How sad will my kitchen look without kids running downstairs to see the setup?
Maybe I can sneak into their houses and decorate for them there….things to think about.
