It’s time for a room makeover! After ten years of a space themed room, we are switching it over and turning it into an ocean and surf themed room my boys will love. This change coincides with moving my youngest into his big boy bed! He’s absolutely loving having more space to roll around and we’re finding that he wakes up less at night now, so really – it’s a win for all of us, lol.
We love going to the beach as a family. Some of our favorite places are Carmel, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and of course – Hawaii! That has inspired this room design. I loved sourcing all of these things and we’ve been slowly picking them up as we go, trying to score sales, and taking our time to get it just right. Belden Twin Beds – We have already bought two of these in navy and they’re solid and very nice. The drawers are built in and on tracks, unlike a lot of other beds we saw that now have the drawers on wheels and they’re not attached to the bed. You can buy a little table that goes between the two beds if you have enough wall space, which we almost did, but it took up a lot of space in our room, so we did separate twin beds with a nighstand between them. The Belden bed is available in 4 colors: white, gray, a white oak color and navy. Here’s how we are positioning them in the room (this image is courtesy of Pottery Barn):
Also, the white glove service was incredible. They rolled out blankets outside the door, put shoe covers on, unpacked the bed, carried it to their upstairs room, built it exactly where we wanted it and then carried the trash away. Seriously amazing.
Charlie Nightstand – I love the finish on this one. We have the nightstand and matching dresser in smoked charcoal. Very good quality. You can also get a weathered navy and a very nice smoked gray which looks like white oak. We’ve had this one for over 5 years now and it looks brand new still.
Charlie Dresser – We have the matching Charlie dresser also in smoked charcoal. It’s very solid and well made and holds a lot of clothes. I love the drawer configuration, because it makes it easy to separate clothes by type. My only complaint is the nobs sometimes get a little loose so the plates behind it move. It’s quick and easy to tighten them down. I have the same issue with our built-in dresser in our room, so I think it’s common. My daughter has the Blythe dresser and it never happens on hers though.
Meet Me At The Beach Wall Art – Love this customizable coastal themed art print. Will look great on one of the blank walls.
Craftmade Taylor Fandalier – I loved this white fandalier – a gorgeous light and fan in one! I’ve already ordered it and we’re installing it soon. It looks very nice in person and I’m so excited to update their lighting. I was thinking of a rattan light, but I couldn’t find a fandalier option that I really liked, but when I found this, I knew it was the one. Comes in other colors and metal finishes, too. Blue Plaid Bedding – We are obsessed with this super soft, reversible blue and orange plaid bedding. We already have it and my boys are so happy with it. It is a final sale/closeout, so you’ll get a great deal but it’ll also sell out and then be gone. If it’s gone when you find this post, I also really like this set here.
Blue Striped Roman Shade – I’ve had this for five years and it is amazing. Easy to lift and lower, the fabric is thick and nice, and the stripes are not perfect, they’re sort of an inconsistent dot/dash and it softens the whole look. Definitely recommend.

Turtle Wall Hooks – Speaking of wall hooks. I love these turtles. You can customize the color and choose how many you want. I currently have three airplane wall hooks for their space themed room and I’ll replace those with three turtles in shades of blue.
