10 Picnic Essentials for Your Coastal Picnic

picnic essentials

One of my favorite things to do is go to the beach. I feel very fortunate that I grew up just a short drive from the coast. We live a few hours away now, so getting there is a lot more effort and planning, but it’s still something that I try to do at least a few times a year, because there’s nothing quite like a nice picnic at the beach. These picnic essentials will make for the perfect coastal picnic, and if you can’t get to the coast, you can channel the vibes anywhere. I love seeing how many people are out enjoying local parks and picnic areas in the summer.

I hope this list inspires you to get outside and enjoy nature wherever you are. You probably already have some of these things at home, too.

1.Extra Large, Waterproof Picnic Blanket:

Love this extra large, foldable picnic blanket in a soft blue plaid. The contrasting leather straps that can be used to wrap and hold the blanket add to the aesthetic. Two other colorways are also available.

2.  Insulated Rattan Picnic Basket:

I shared this recently and you loved this as much as I do. The cooler insert is going to make it so easy to keep those snacks nice and cold. If you are only serving a few people, you can put drinks in there, too. This is perfect for a couple or a small group. For a larger group, keep reading!

3. Small Foldable Table:

Looking for a flat surface to put that snack tray? This adorable, small foldable will be easy to carry, easy to store, and will offer a nice flat, stable surface for snacks. Great for on the beach when you don’t want sand getting in your food.

4. Blue Hydrangea Stemware:

Blue hydrangeas are the signature flower of coastal decor. These gorgeous, unbreakable glasses are perfect for that glass of wine, or your favorite drink. Comes in lots of other pretty colors, too.

5. Heavy Duty Beach Umbrella:

This adorable striped, fringed beach umbrella is ready to offer you shade. It looks like something straight out of a Greek villa. It’s the beach version of the pool umbrella that we have and love. If you’d like even more shade than this, check out the next item on the list.

6. 6ft. Beach Cabana:

Get all the shade with this 6ft. beach cabana in a gorgeous navy and white stripe. I am, unfortunately, very sensitive to sun exposure, and I know I’m not alone in that. More shade = better for me.

7. Cabana Stripe Turkish Towels:

If you plan to lay out or get in the water, you’ll want some of these super soft, perfectly striped, Turkish beach towels.

8. Lightweight Backpack Beach Chairs:

If you’ll be there for awhile, you’ll need a comfortable place to sit, and these beach chairs have all the bells and whistles. You can wear them like a backpack to give you one less thing to hold. An insulated pocket keeps your favorite snack or drink cold. A zipper pouch stores your things, and they lay flat for resting.

9. Snackle Box:

Keep those snacks organized and separated with a snackle box! These are so convenient and would fit so nicely in your new rattan cooler bag.

10. Melamine Outdoor Plates:

Love this Mediterranean style outdoor plates. There’s matching dinner size and glasses, too. I think salad sized plates are perfect for an outdoor picnic, unless you’re serving sandwiches. These are unbreakable, outdoor plates that can stand up to the elements.
