Protect Your Identity with Zenni ID Guard Lenses

Zenni ID Guard glasses

I love updating my collection of glasses. I wear glasses all day and have to wear sunglasses when I’m outside, because my eyes are very sensitive to the sun (thanks Sjogren’s!). Zenni has been my go-to for prescription glasses for years now. I love all of their frame options, the collabs with designers, the lens options, and all the cool accessories they have, like special glass cleaners and fix-it kits.

Today I am excited to share with you my newest pair of glasses, a gorgeous burgundy-bronze pair of eyeglasses with their brand new ID Guard lenses. If you have/love glasses with options like transition lenses (that automatically darken in the sun – like these), blue light blocking lenses, and anti-glare lenses, then you are going to love these ones. But, first here’s a picture of my new glasses:

Gorgeous! I love the color. Zenni glasses are made well and have high-end details. I used to spend upwards of $150 on a single pair of glasses and wear them all year long until my next appointment. Now, with Zenni, I pay less, so I can have more options that I can switch out based on what I’m wearing, where I am going, etc. It’s been a really nice way to do something nice for myself, which is hard for a busy mom.

So, what is the Zenni EyeQLenz ID Guard Lenses? Well, you know how there are wallets that protect our credit cards from being scanned while sitting safely in our wallets or pockets? These lenses operate in a similar way.

If you haven’t heard of this, there are devices that scammers can use to. scan through our pockets and wallets to access the chips on our credit cards. From there, it’s easy to steal them and use them on their own purchases, which is why credit card theft is so rampant and hard to stop.

However, more and more devices are unlocked with our eyes, and people are carrying cards less and using cards that have been loaded onto their phones and other devices. Now, they are protected by a face or eye scanner. That’s harder for scammers to steal…or is it?

Not necessarily. And, it’s not just scammers who want access to our eyes, it’s AI trackers, too. Facial and eye scanners will become increasingly common in cities as a way to track people, but if you want to maintain a degree of privacy, you can achieve that with glasses like this.

These glasses act similarly to an RFID wallet. They are light adaptive, blue light filtering, and UV blocking. But they’re also treated with a special anti-infrared coating that helps reflect hidden IR rays designed to scan our eyes in order to reduce unwanted tracking.

You can see it in person too. When light hits the lenses, it’s refracted in little pink and reddish dots or a haze (you choose the color you want it to be – I chose the pink/red to go with my frames, but there are other color options). In the sun, the lenses are adaptive and dark to protect your eyes, and then stay clear indoors. It’s amazing what technology can do, but that can also leave us feeling like we need to take extra measures to protect our identities from scammers.

It’s wild that I’m seeing this happen in our lifetime. I never thought I’d see technology like this. After all, I was born in the 80s when we still had card catalogues at the library and didn’t even have a home computer until I was in high school. I got my first cell phone in college! Since then, it’s been a rapid, nonstop advance in technology to the point where we are today.

I’m grateful for companies like Zenni that are creating affordable products that offer lots of options for eyewear and are developing new technologies to protect our eyes, and our identities.
