I have something really cool to share with you today. Awhile back, I shared my new Transitions lens glasses on Instagram. I did a quick video showing how quickly the transition lenses turn from clear indoor lenses to dark sunglass lenses once the glasses are exposed to light. Since then, I’ve been wearing these all the time and it’s amazing how something seemingly small can improve my quality of life. I’ve been wearing two pairs of glasses for as long as I can remember. I have my sunglasses and my reading glasses, and now that I’m getting older, I’m supposed to have two pairs of reading glasses, one for close-up and one for distance, but I can’t even imagine keeping track of three pairs.
Now, with my Transitions lens glasses, I won’t have to. These simplify my life in a very noticeable way. I don’t have to fumble around for sunglasses vs. reading glasses, keeping track of two pairs, and making sure I don’t drop a pair or forget them somewhere. I don’t know about you, but I’ll take all the ways that I can make life easier and not harder.
Zenni Transitions Glasses:
Here’s a picture of my beautiful Zenni glasses with Transitions lenses before being exposed to light. The lenses are clear and perfectly customized to my prescription. Lens Transition Time:
Now let’s look at the lenses when I step out into the sunlight. The glasses on top are Zenni glasses without transition lenses. The ones on the bottom have the transition lenses. Here’s the exact glasses I ordered with Transitions lenses. It took seconds for the lenses to change this dark. It was so fun to see, because I’d never had transition lenses before. Then, when you step back inside, it takes a few seconds to about a minute for them to change back and then they’re almost clear again. It’s like a magic trick. My kids love to watch them transform, lol.
What Comes With Your Glasses:
The glasses came in this gorgeous white carrying case in a magnetic box that has pictures of all the lenses options and the Zenni glass cleaner. I stash these glass cleaners everywhere. They are the best ones. I’ve bought their small glasses repair kit, too, and we use that to tighten and fix glasses when they need it. Their cases have changed over the years and depending on the brand, the case will be different. This white one is my favorite that I’ve received with a pair of their glasses yet.
Types of Transitions Lenses:
Zenni has three options for transition lenses. Here’s the different choices and what they offer:
- Transitions Gen S: These are the most common Transitions lens. They turn dark outside and comes in 8 colors. They do not turn dark in the car and are not polarized.
- Transitions XTRActive: These turn dark in the car, but have a light indoor tint. Comes in regular tint or polarized.
- Transitions Drivewear: These stay dark like a sunglass all the time, but change colors based on sunny vs. cloudy conditions when you’re driving and are polarized. So, basically, they adjust to the amount of light outside so you can keep your sunglasses on during a long drive or changes in weather.
For me, I felt the Transitions XTRActive were the right choice for me. I go in and out of my car a lot with the kids and I need darkened lenses when I drive, because of Sjogren’s, which makes my eyes really sensitive to light. I’ve been super impressed with how comfortable they are to wear in my car, outdoors, and indoors.

Overall, I’m super happy with my new Zenni glasses. They’re really comfortable to wear and my prescription is just right. I also love the cateye shape for glasses. It’s what I’ve been wearing for a long time, but they have so many different shapes and styles, too.
