I first read Dr. Amy Myer’s book in 2015 after being diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome, an autoimmune disease that attacks the body’s glands that produce moisture. My main symptoms were super itchy, dry, painful eyes, fatigue, and joint and muscle pain so bad I could barely make it up the stairs holding a laundry basket. Her book was the first time that I was able to put the pieces together on how I could reclaim my health by taking very specific steps to removing inflammatory foods and environmental toxins that were feeding the diseases. When she began releasing her own line of supplements, I was first in line to replace the current supplements I was taking with hers. As she’s continued adding supplements, protein powders, and more to her line, I’ve loved trying them out and finding which ones really work for me.
If you’re here, you probably already been diagnosed with something and are familiar with Dr. Amy Myers. I’d love to share the products that I currently have and use and the results I’m seeing, in case it’ll give you some ideas of what to try next. At the end of the day, each of us are going to have our own unique experience with autoimmunity, so find what works for you, be your own best advocate, and know that I am not a medical doctor and cannot dispense medical advice. I’m just a person, like you, that has been living with this for over a decade and I’ve used myself as a guinea pig, trying hundreds of natural remedies and supplements over the years in a tireless pursuit of what will heal my body. So, consider this my disclaimer over what I’m about to share 🙂

1. Probiotic 100 Billion:
The best probiotic I’ve taken. It really helps. She also has a 30 billion version that is more affordable. This is definitely considered a maximum strength probiotic. Dr. Amy Myers recommends probiotics to every patient, because digestive/gut health is critical to how our body functions. The more I learn about gut health, the more I realize that so much starts in the gut. This 100 Billion strength probiotic contains 14 of the most important strains, with enough viable CFU’s (Colony Forming Units) in each capsule to support maximum digestive health and immune function. And, just as important as what this has, is what it doesn’t have,, such as:
- Non-Gmo
- Non-Dairy
- EGG-Free
- Gluten-Free
- Soy-Free
- No artificial sweeteners
- GMP compliant
- AIP-Friendly

2. Digestive Enzymes:
I’ve discussed digestive enzymes before. I’ve tried a couple different brands and I do mix it up based on where I’m eating. I usually keep the capsule form with me when I travel or I’m not at home, and I use these chewable ones at home. I do prefer the chewable ones honestly, because I get tired of taking capsule form supplements. Take a couple with a meal, especially if you’re eating something outside your usual diet or that has inflammatory ingredients. If you’re eating at someone else’s house or a restaurant, then you don’t know how it’s prepared and it’s probably not up to your AIP standards, so take digestive enzymes to support your body in being able to break it down. This really helps with stomachaches, bloating, sluggish digestive systems, and a lot more.

3. Collagen Protein:
We’ve actually run out of this and I need to buy more. I should’ve grabbed it during the Black Friday sale. Oops. Anyway, collagen is amazing. Collagen is the most important structural protein in the body and it decreases in production as we get older. It’s very difficult to get enough of it through diet, so supplementing is a great way to help our bodies out. Collagen does more than smooth wrinkles, strengthen nails, and help with healthy hair. It also lubricates joints and if you’re having any joint pain, you know what creaky old joints feel like. Collagen is like the glue that holds our bodies together. This collagen is made from grass fed, pasture raised beef and easily dissolves into smoothies, coffee, tea, or whatever else you’re drinking.

4. Protein Powder:
I love her protein powders. They are made with super healthy ingredients and taste great. They are the best tasting protein powders I’ve tried and some of them are so good I can drink them without adding anything besides ice and milk. The peppermint mocha protein powder is my favorite, but it’s seasonal. It packs 20g of protein per scoop! Even my son drinks it with me and he doesn’t like very many protein powders. I also really like the vanilla bean protein powder as a base protein for smoothies with fruit or other added ingredients. There’s a lot of other flavor options, like chocolate, strawberries and cream, salted caramel and more.

5. Vitamin D3-K2:
Whenever my D3 is tested when I’m not supplementing, it’s super low. This is a problem for a lot of reasons. First, a lot of studies are showing low D3 is going to cause perimenopause and menopause symptoms to be a lot worse. Second, D3 is needed at every level for whole-body health. In fact, every single type of tissue in your body has receptors for Vitamin D. Your bones, heart, brain, muscles, immune system, you name it, all require sufficient Vitamin D to function optimally. Vitamin D is also the only vitamin that also functions as a hormone in the body, too, yet the majority of adults are deficient in it. Supplementing is easy, just make sure it also has K2, so the body can absorb it.

6. L-Glutamine:
One of the first products I bought from Dr. Amy Myers was the Leaky Gut protocol and this L-Glutamine. Well, not this exact one, because I’ve reordered it many times since. But, people with autoimmune diseases have to repair their gut, especially if they’re using medicines, or even painkillers, like ibuprofen and Tylenol, to manage pain. If you are like me and also have a sweet tooth, or eat things you probably shouldn’t (hello bread!), then working on gut health is important. L-Glutamine helps to repair or maintain a healthy gut barrier. It also helps balance the body’s insulin response and support the metabolism. So, maybe you’re struggling with cortisol issues related to stress and anxiety, or metabolism issues because of age. Regardless, L-Glutamine can help. It’s not an overnight miracle cure, but give it time and combined with other lifestyle changes, you’ll notice a difference.

7. The Myers Way Multivitamin:
My husband loves this. He says it’s the best mutivitamin he’s taken. It’s an excellent formulation. I don’t personally take a multi, because I take so many other things, but if I were going to take one, it’d be this one. This comprehensive, bioavailable multivitamin helps ensure that you are getting the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, probiotic bacteria, and micronutrients your body needs to support peak health.
