I love flowers. I’ve spent years planting various plants, bushes, and trees in my backyard in an effort to recreate a secret garden aesthetic. But, due to the high heat in the summers where I live, this has been a somewhat futile effort. Many of the beautiful things we’ve planted have not survived. We have continued trying, though, and thankfully today we have a thriving backyard oasis and we have learned a lot about what can grow in this area.
Maybe I’m exhausted from all this work on the backyard, but I find it’s easier to use faux flowers when it comes to inside the house. Of course, if you’ve bought faux flowers, you know how expensive they can get. I love some of the fake flowers, stems, and arrangements that I see on sites like Afloral and Pottery Barn. To be quite honest, that is simply not in my budget right now. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be. I am finding more and more faux flowers that look super realistic, for a much more affordable price. If you love the look of flowers, but the ease of faux, here are my favorite fake flowers that I’ve found so far.

- Faux Ranunculus – These stunners come in a pack of 10 or 6, but the 10 pack will nicely fill most vases. I am obsessed with this gorgeous deep red color. Other options are available, too, though. Ranunculus are one of those flowers that make a statement, especially in this deep red.
- Faux Peonies – My favorite flower is the peony. I wish they bloomed more than once a year. We have these stunning peony bushes in the backyard and they bloom so quickly, and the flowers wilt so fast, and it just feels like the blink of an eye. A very satisfying blink, but too quick, IMO. I could look at them all year, and with stunning faux peonies like this, I can. These are the most realistic ones I’ve found. Partial to this soft pink color, but there are other options.
- Faux Hydrangeas – I ordered a couple other ones before finding these and I love them. They create this perfect little globe effect when I put two packs in a vase. I love this pink color, but I also am drawn to the blue, white, and green. So nice. I bought real hydrangeas once and they died very fast in the heat. Such a bummer.
- Faux Tulips – I have this 24 piece faux tulips set in two colors: light pink and white. They are perfect in vases on shelves. I like to use the pink ones around Valentine’s Day and Easter. Tulips are such a sweet floral to use in the spring.
- Faux Peony Bouquet – Obsessed with this vibrant bouquet created with 4 bundles of faux peonies. They are perfectly designed to plop into a vase and look complete. The added greenery brings it to life. I love this in my blue and white pitcher vase. Very Nancy Meyers.
Beautiful Vases:
As you know, the stems are just part of the look. The vase itself is also important. You’ll want to choose one with a neck or opening that will display the flowers in the way you like. Do you want them tightly bunched into a little ball? Do you want them strewn out and dripping from the vase like wild flowers? These are all things to consider when choosing a vase. Here are some of my favorites.
